Goalkeeper rotation in youth football

Should one child always go in goal? Three simple ways to handle keepers fairly.

Three common approaches

One fixed keeper for the whole game. A different keeper each half. Or a rotation among the players who are happy to go in goal.

Keep it fair

Time in goal still counts as playing time, but most children want time outfield too. If one child is your regular keeper, give them outfield minutes in training and in some games.

Let them choose

Some children love it and some dread it. Asking who wants a turn, rather than picking, usually works better for everyone.
